The air was cold, the wind strong and the waves raging. No one would like to find themselves in the sea at this time, but do we always have a choice? In times of turbulence, we struggle, kick hard to stay afloat, gasp for air while being tossed and rolled on waves helplessly. Our inner voice alternates erratically between despair and hope as our sanity hit rock bottom. Disoriented, we lost sight of where the shore was and tempted to resign ourselves to the force of elements. "Resistance is futile", they said.
I stood at a distance slightly further than the furthest reach of the frothy waves. No matter what, the surf could not hit me. The sea was more interesting when it was rough than calm. The sound of oncoming waves crushing on the receding ones was music to my ears. I wanted to take a deep breath but the air was too chilly. As the sun set, temperature dropped lower. It was time to turn back, leaving the tumultuous times behind. Tomorrow, I would wake up early for the sunrise and morning breeze.
